Most parents and child care givers are aware of the rising rates of childhood obesity, which has led more and more adults to look for ways to keep their kids healthy and fit. Although it may seem overwhelming at first, if you just take small steps, you can make the transition from preparing unhealthy food to feeding your kids wholesome meals. Below are some tips for small ways you can get started preparing healthy menus for your children.

Think Differently – It’s easy to get stuck in a rut in the way we think about foods. Most of us think macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets and pizza are all bad foods, but the truth is that they don’t have to be. You can make every one of these foods into healthier foods by making them yourself instead of buying them at the store. Start with a pizza, here’s how:

The thought of spring cleaning often overwhelms people and causes them to procrastinate even more. It doesn’t have to be this way though. You can get the entire house clean without stressing about it when you keep it simple and go room by room. Here’s how.

The Living Room – The living room is probably going to be one of the dirtiest places in the house since it’s where everyone congregates to. A lot of traffic goes through there. While it’s tempting to clean the floor first, start up high and work your way down. Follow the order listed below:

Conclusion 21

Excerpt from eBook
The most common complaint by people who desire to start eating healthier foods is the price for these foods at the grocery store. If you’ve ever compared the prices of organically grown apples to regular apples then you know how much more expensive the organic ones are. The same is true for whole grain crackers versus regular white crackers.

However, not everything is just like it first appears. Maybe it is more expensive to buy whole grain crackers, but what if you bought a bag of whole wheat flour and made your own snacks? You would be able to make a lot more snacks with that bag of flour than you would be able to buy for the same price. Sometimes, we have to change the way we think about health foods and their prices in order to get the most bang for our buck.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the outside demands in our lives and forget about the simple “basic” things that once had us happy and content. So many people long to get back to the basics, but don’t know where to start. This is why there have been so many books written and self-help courses designed in this area. Below are a few tips for how you can get back to the basics and begin enjoying the simpler things in life once again.

1.	Take a 15 minute “time out.” While you may find it difficult to find an hour for yourself during the day, it’s not hard to find 15 minutes. Whether you do it in the morning, lunchtime or before bed, close the door and sit down for just 15 minutes.

Excerpt from eBook
Remember, we’re taking small steps here. This is not something you are going to do overnight, instead it’s going to take time before your entire diet changes. So, what do you do first?

Start by eliminating one unhealthy food/drink the first week. Make it a goal not to eat or drink that particular item for the entire week…and the week after that. Then, the next week, add another unhealthy food/drink to the list and just keep going.

Once you begin eliminating unhealthy food/drink choices from your diet, you will have to replace them with healthy options or else you’ll go hungry. So, gradually start to add in healthy food options. For instance, if you’re used to drinking soda in the morning, replace the soda with a fruit smoothie. This is a much healthier option and you’ll notice an increase in energy too!

Excerpt from eBook
Obviously, the cost of green energy is what’s holding us back from committing to it. The fact is that fossil fuel energy costs three to ten times less than green energy does, when you consider the return on it. This is why fossil fuels are still favored over other green energy sources – the return.

Another challenge facing green energy is it’s intermittent nature. For example, solar panels only work when the sun is shining for lengthy periods of time and wind energy only words when the wind is blowing. For both of these green energy methods to gain support, they need to become more affordable and reliable first.

So, the question is how do we overcome the challenges facing green energy?

Increase Iron – Many women (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) find themselves craving things like hamburgers, steaks and other meats during pregnancy. This may be your body’s way of telling you that you need more iron. Vegetarians increase their iron during pregnancy by eating more leafy (dark green) veggies such as kale and spinach and combine them with foods rich in vitamin C to improve absorption.

Another great source of iron is blackstrap molasses. And, many believe that by cooking with cast-iron will help your diet get more iron too. Now, if you drink a lot of caffeinated beverages, you may be inhibiting your body’s absorption of the iron you’re giving it. This is why experts advise against caffeine during pregnancy. You can also take prenatal vitamins or an iron supplement during pregnancy if you feel it’s necessary.

Calcium: Get It! It’s very important for you to get the calcium your body needs during pregnancy to help the baby develop correctly. Many people feel the only way to get this is by eating dairy products. However, this isn’t true. In fact, dark, leafy greens, soybeans, apricots, figs, tofu and even blackstrap molasses are excellent sources of calcium.

Excerpt from eBook
So, you’ve heard a lot about depression lately, but don’t know if what you are feeling is depression or just stress. While only a doctor can make a diagnosis on depression, there are several well-known signs and symptoms that come along with depression. If you have one of more of the follow symptoms on a regular basis then you may suffer from depression.

1. Depressing Mornings – Many people who suffer from depression wake up in the mornings feeling especially down or sad. While depression can take flight at any time of the day, for depressed people, mornings are particularly bad and they often find themselves unmotivated and wanting to stay in bed all day.

2. Easily Angered and/or Irritated – Another sign of depression is becoming easily angered and/or irritated. While everyone gets irritated and angry from time to time, those with depression can get irritated or angry very quickly and often can’t control it.
